Subject: Re: booksense.com vs own website
Author: Lynn

I've done both and I'd go with booksense.com any day!!!
1. Expense - I mitigate the expense of the site by taking advantage of the booksense.com co-op program. It doesn't take me any time at all to make the monthly adjustments to the site, and to put in the claims. The co-op pretty much covers the cost of the site.
2. The site has an excellent database. When we did our own site, this was a huge issue. With Booksense, we have access to the tools the "big guys" have. In a month or so it will also reflect our in-store inventory.
3. Booksense.com is done by people who understand books and the book industry
4. The site has enough templates, pages and features that it can reflect your store's image easily. No html required unless you want it.
5. The site is easy to manage-if you want to make an instant change, you can do it easily without calling a consultant.
6. You are part of the Booksense on-line community with customers being directed to your site.

I'm sure there are lots of other reasons. We're so convinced after having done it ourselves and with high-priced consultants, that we'd never change....
