Features: Integrated accounting, online multi-store capability (with suggested transfers, warehouse distribution, and more), user-defined fields, pop-up windows for inventory (by title, author, category, user, ISBN, stock number, and vendor), customer searching. Integrated returns (multiple options), mailing list/labels, and special orders with curriculum and mail order, multi-tasking, and the ability to set up jobs to be run later. Cascaded electronic ordering, season codes for suggested orders, multiple pricing levels, cost accounting with de facto invoice, receiving with 10,000-per-hour bar code label printer, POS (scans EAN, UPC, checks customer status, split payments, payment on account), postal data exchange, hand-held terminals, price and title update, future and mass pricing, custom report generator with graphics, the ability to load Ingram's database for up-to-the-moment stock checks of their inventory, and RFM Analysis for Mail List Decision-Making.

Target Environment: All stores over $125,000 in sales. Especially effective for large and multiple location stores. Expandable to virtually unlimited users, stores, or store size.

Stats: Available 20 years/350+ users; over 200 installations since 7/93.

Development History: The Information Partner ™Bookstore Management System has been developed, supported and marketed by IRT, to ABA stores for more than 10 years. New in 2000: Ability to run Information Partner ™ via the Internet.

Standard Configuration/Cost: Sold as a turnkey system utilizing UNIX computers with tailored setups depending on the size of the store. A complete two- to 96-user installation for a store doing over $125,000 in sales includes POS, invoice printer, bar code scanner, high-speed report printer, modem, and software starts under $12,000.

Training: Cost of system includes three to five days training at IRT offices, depending on the system size, followed by on-site installation (booksellers pay expenses).

Support: Online, toll-free telephone support is included in the system price for one year (8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. EST, weekdays) including enhancements (automatically uploaded each week), with after-hour support available until midnight EST, and 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. EST on Saturdays; thereafter, the same support is available for $675 per quarter.
