Features: Ordering, receiving, returns, POS, bar code, OTB/replenishment,
scanning/labels, special orders, physical inventory, and reports. Fully integrated
to Ingram Primesource and NACSCORP with the MBS EDI (electronic data interchange)
application. Includes a 500,000-title database (from Ingram Book Company). General
Books is fully integrated with accounting and general merchandise packages.
Multi-user.
Target Environment: Single or multi-store trade departments of college
bookstores. Expandable.
Stats: Available 12 years/185 users.
Development History: Though the software is not restricted to trade
book departments in college stores, MBS (a wholesaler of new and used college
texts) originally developed the General Book application for the college store
industry.
Standard Configuration/Cost: Runs on the IBM AS/400 line; POS software
and hardware are add-ons. Macintosh compatible (Macs may be used as terminals).
Software is $10,900 (includes the General Merchandise Module).
Training: Five days at MBS at $350 per day plus expenses.
Support: $2,750 cost per year covers software and hardware support via
toll-free telephone, database maintenance, and enhancements
