Target Environment: Full-service bookstores with a high level of customer service, especially stores with comprehensive special order, mail order, and customer-service operations. Stores using WordStock range in annual sales from $100,000 to more than $20 million.

Stats: Available 18 years/1300 users in nine countries.

Development History: WordStock was first written in 1982; WordStock, Inc. was incorporated in 1984.

Standard Configuration/Cost: Tech specs: Real-time, UNIX/POSIX-compliant 32-bit operating system, with available TCP/IP and FTP. Runs on 10/100 Ethernet. Internet/VPN supported for multi-site operations. Recommended hardware is PIV PC with 128 MB of RAM. Client may be able to use existing hardware. WordStock systems are custom-configured; price varies with the specifics of the system. There is no practical limit to the size of a WordStock system or the number of items in inventory. A 2-user WordStock system sells for approximately $15,000 including hardware, software, shipping, initial supplies, installation, and training. Leases are available.

Training: Training is quoted per eight-hour day, plus travel expenses.

Support: Toll-free telephone support, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., EST. Extended hours are also available for 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., local time [continental USA]. Fees waived for the first 60 days; thereafter 'One Call' support option covers updates, software support, troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance. Fees vary with the size of the system and the type of coverage chosen. WordStock offers comprehensive consulting services, custom programming, and sells a complete range of system hardware and supplies.
